in which Bethy is a hazy shade of winter

Beautiful autumn day today. Or is it winter? I can’t really tell. It’s either a cold autumn day or a mild winter day. Either way it’s lovely out there. Won’t be so lovely later when all the sodding fireworks start but there we go.

I finally got my Red Cup. Oh Toffee Nut Latte I have missed you!Ant had a Gingerbread Latte which was quite nice but no Toffee Nut. It’s a shame that they don’t do sugar-free Toffee Nut. They can do a pseudo sugar-free one with caramel and hazelnut syrups but it’s not the same, and it has to have the sprinkles. Yay the sprinkles! The sprinkles of joy. Last year the baristas on Wellfield Road would give me extra sprinkles. This was a very happy thing.

Look at the Christmas goodies!

I want one of the mugs with a candy cane handle. They’ve also got a mug with what appears to be a Beagle on a sled. Happy times right there. Starbucks are doing buy one get one free on Red Cups between 2pm-5pm until tomorrow. People were queuing out the door of some stores in town. We went to the one that no one goes to, the one on Queen Street by McDonalds.  We saw this guy who obviously decided that BOGOF means he gets lots of coffee. I thought he looked like Moss from The IT Crowd. Not sure what he was drawing, some sort of symmetrical architecture.

There’s a noodle place on Queen Street now. It sells stuff in the proper boxes like they have in America. This is a pleasing thing. Not so pleasing were the millions of emos lurking everywhere. Someone needs to tell them that they don’t need to wear all the clothes from Blue Banana at the same time, and that a tiger onesie is not suitable attire for hanging around the castle grounds. It amazes me how, in order to “be different”, they all have to look the same.

I finally fixed the wireless properly. After my joy of fixing it last night with the help of a Liverpudlian called Tommy on the phone, the dongle once again ate the network and created it’s own that cut all the other computers off. So I took it back and got a PCI card which works a treat. Clever me, still got it nearly 10 years after becoming the first person in Dixons Cardiff to set up a wireless network. *smug*

Monty is hiding under the TV because of the fireworks. He hates them. Pickle’s not so fussed, she jumps at the really big bangs but otherwise is contentedly sleeping on the back of the sofa.

Finally, here’s a pressie for you – The Bangles – Hazy Shade of Winter. I love the Simon & Garfunkel original but this version is really good for stomping through leaves on the way to work.
